It is usually best to simply quit at the top and then use a plastic lining. Buy some rivets and then saw the quilt at the top to the lining.

Sewing the quilt to the lining can cause it to be porous, this why I recommend sewing at the top. Unless you don’t have much of a problem with the leakage.

You can then hide the seams by putting a backing on it especially if you decide to go with the quilted top.

You can also make buttonholes across the top of the hooks instead of sewing the quilt to the plastic liner. This will leave you with an option to wash the liner easily and separately. You can even throw it away when it wears out without losing the quilt.
